1. I offer individual or group tutoring. Group tutoring is a cost effective way to get help in a class. It is your responsibility to get a group of students together. They must be in the same class with the same teacher . Usually, there are several students struggling so it is not a problem to find 3 or more students that need help at the same time.
2. Students can be tutored at the Tuscaloosa Public library or their home. Being tutored at your home will cost a one way dime a mile fee. To tutor at your home I must be able to work it into my schedule.
3. When tutoring college students at the library, my laptop is available to access Blackboard or MyMathLab to do online math assignments . This works well for University of Alabama students as most math assignments and quizzes are done on computer.
4. I will furnish a list of internet resources tailored for each student of any age if the student is interested in using these type of resources at home.
5. During the summer, I will furnish all materials necessary for review. During the school year this is not necessary because the students will be utilizing their textbook.
I offer $10 off on the first hour of tutoring to a new student. You may want to consider group tutoring ( your child and friend or friends) to get high quality instruction at a lower rate from a trained teacher, not someone that just took the class one time.
Any student that books 2 hours every week is given an extra half hour, if needed, free at every tutoring session. College students and homeschooled students on a tight deadline to finish are usually the only ones that need 2 hours a week of tutoring.
I charge $50 an hour. Elementary students usually need 1/2 to 1 hour per week. Middle school and high school students usually need an hour per week. Many parents have difficulty understanding how a half hour or hour a week can make such a huge difference. After one session you wil realize that because my explanations are so easy to understand that a huge amount of material can be covered in a short amount of time. It is not unusual to finish early and not need the entire hour of tutoring which means that the charge is less than $50.
I am also available to give a test review covering a chapter or chapters. The tutoring session can be scheduled for 1 or 2 days before the test. This option only works for students that need only a moderate amount of help. Usually, high school students will have a test scheduled about twice a month. Of course if I only tutor a student occasionally, I must be able to work it into my schedule for this to be an option. Students that schedule a weekly tutoring session receive priority in scheduling times. Being tutored individually on a weekly basis is the best way to see the most improvement because the student will receive 100% of the instruction.
When tutoring 2 students in the same subject at the same time, I charge $25 per child per hour.
I have tutored groups of from 3 to 10 high school students . They must all be in the same subject with the same teacher for this to work well. This works best if they are tutored weekly. I charge $20 per student and tutor from a hour to a hour and a half which will usually cover a week of material on the high school level. Students in group tutoring do not improve at the same rate as individual tutoring because the time is divided among several students. This will work well if the students have some questions but are not completely "lost".
College students sometimes need 2 hours per week. If you book 2 hours per week on a regular basis, I will not charge you for more than 2 hours if you need a little extra help. In other words, if I tutor you every week for 2 hours I will give you up to 3 hours tutoring for the price of 2 hours. This is usually done by meeting for a hour and a half twice a week. I have never needed to tutor any college student for more than 3 hours per week. This includes during exam week.
